ABOUT
Music for me is something more than just a sound. It expresses itself in the permanent breathing and constant action that consists of the emptiness of the space and the fullness of lonely objects that move around or passively stand. The attention works as the frame – the way we shift our attention forms the way we observe the incoming material that exists all the time. The attention is a sort of piece that defines the distance between things and creates a field of simultaneous expression and simultaneous communication.
Marina Poleukhina is composer and improviser.
The focus of her artistical attention lies in an interdisciplinary work. Her music unite a creation of a world that goes beyond only sounds. It connects movement, light, video projections on unusual surfaces, manipulation of ordinary devices that make them become instruments, objects that create their own space. This evolves into new and unexplored acoustical situations of an intense complexity. A territory made of crossroads of genres. Her music is played on festivals: Ultima (Oslo), Wien Modern (Vienna), Path Festival (Verona), MATA (New York), Platforma (Moscow), Unerhörte Musik (Berlin) and others.

She works with ensembles such as Airborne Extended, MCME, Nostri Temporis, Looptail, Zwerm, Platypus, Nadar, Curious chamber; musicians such as Jennifer Torrence, Alexander Chernyshkov, Alessandro Baticci, Maria Kalesnikava, Alexey Sysoev, Stefan Voglsinger, Tomomi Adachi, Vladimir Gorlinsky, Didi Kern, Katelyn Rose King, Franz Hautzinger; with choreographers such as Johanna Nielson, Paul Wenninger, Agnes Schneidewind.

She lives in Vienna. Walks and works there, despite a strong wind.
Building instruments, teaching and playing there. Where? There... or somewhere else.
